It’s time to share with you all a review of this glass pen that I got from Honey Glass in Thailand. Have you tried writing with glass pens? These writing instruments are not only a joy to use but also a work of art in themselves.
I was recently lucky enough to stumble upon a pop-up booth for Honey Glass, a glass pen maker from Thailand, while on a trip to Bangkok. They were located near one of the entrances of Terminal 21 in Asok, Bangkok, and I was immediately drawn to the intricate designs and vibrant colors of their pens.
The kind people at the booth let me try a few of the pens, and even took the time to teach me how to use and care for them. The pens come in a box with a bottle of ink, making them a perfect ready-to-go gift—even if you’re just gifting yourself! The packaging was a big plus for me, especially since I was traveling.
Writing with a glass pen is a different experience from a fountain pen or a dip pen with a nib. The magic lies in the tip. A glass pen’s tip is a spiraled, tapered point. These grooves are what hold the ink, distributing it evenly as you write. To use the pen, you simply dip the tip into some ink, letting the ink fill the spiral grooves. Then, you can write continuously for a surprising amount of time. I was able to get a lot of words down on the page before needing to re-dip. The pen glides smoothly across the paper, making it a great choice for practicing cursive.
A little tip I learned is to carefully remove excess ink after dipping. I would lightly touch the tip to the side of the ink bottle opening and onto some paper towels. This helped ensure a consistent flow and a more even line weight, preventing blots and creating a cleaner look for my handwriting. It’s a small step, but it makes a big difference in the final result.
The pens from Honey Glass are unique works of art, with beautiful patterns swirling through the glass. The medium tip of the pen I chose was comfortable to hold and had a smooth, consistent flow. While I usually prefer a finer tip, I still liked how well this pen performed.
One of the best things about the Honey Glass pen is its ability to hold a lot of ink. Thanks to the carefully crafted grooves, it retains ink exceptionally well, so you’re not constantly dipping back into the bottle. This makes the writing process feel more fluid and less interrupted.
For anyone new to the world of glass pens, this Honey Glass set is a great place to start. It comes with a full set of care and usage instructions, which are incredibly helpful for a first-time user. All in all, I’m happy with my Honey Glass pen!
