Sharing here my first time filling up my pen with ink. It’s a bit darker on the Rhodia dotted pad, probably because the ink sinks onto the paper. Next, I will try on coated paper to see the difference. ⁣

I designed a custom Sailor fountain pen at Ancora Ginza. It was a lovely shop filled with inks and specialty fountain pens just a few minutes’ walk from Ginza station in Tokyo. ⁣
⁣
It’s a great experience and my teen daughter actually wanted to make one for herself the next time we come back (I can’t believe she said it). Watch till the end to see how my pen turned out!⁣

What I loved most about Sekaido was the vast selection of sumi ink and ink stones! Promised myself I won’t hoard so I just got myself a huge bottle of Moon Palace sumi ink. It’s so huge, I’m pretty sure it will last me a decade. Practical, that’s me 😂⁣

There were lots of paint brushes as well as a big selection of Daniel Smith gouache. The ground level had so much kawaii rubber stamps (which I told myself I’ll come back for next time).⁣

My Spencerian capitals could be a lot better, so I thought I should revisit the ubiquitous capital stems. Lately I just write these over and over, trying to make the curves as graceful as possible ☺️⁣ Thank you @michaelrsull for creating this book, I’ll never get tired of learning from it!

I almost forgot how therapeutic it is to write names on envelopes. The only challenge encountered here was that the material was heavily textured which caused the nib to snag on the first try, but once I got the hang of it, writing was a breeze. ⁣
