Wedding Calligraphy Invitations for a Hawaii Destination Wedding

I had the pleasure of designing the calligraphy wedding invitations for a lovely destination wedding in Hawaii.

‘Nothing fancy, just love’

Wedding invitations are an important part of the wedding planning process. They set the tone for the big day and give guests a sneak peek of what to expect. Erwin and Clarice, who recently tied the knot at Gannon’s Grassy Knoll, chose wedding invitations with playful, modern calligraphy and floral elements.

After providing a number of different modern calligraphy options, the couple chose the calligraphy wedding invitation that they liked best. The bride chose a bold yet classic color scheme that perfectly matched her bouquet and the beauty of their Hawaii wedding location. By choosing calligraphy and floral elements, we created a cohesive look and feel for their wedding that set the tone for a truly special day.

Fun fact—the bride and I have been friends since we were babies. Our moms have been close friends years before we were even born, and I’m assuming that BFFs tend to plan pregnancies together, too. As a result, we (the babies) were born just a few months apart.

Thank you, Clarice and Erwin for making my calligraphy a part of your big day.

Art Deco-Inspired Wedding Invitations

I became an instant fan of the classic 1920’s look because of this art deco themed invite suite I had the privilege of designing. It was a vintage theme, yes, but the beautiful thing is, it doesn’t look ‘old’ at all. It’s just pure class, and I truly enjoyed the whole design process.

The suite is a mix of handwritten elements and digital design, and searching for the perfect art deco font proved to be a challenge. A self-proclaimed font snob, I found myself browsing through fonts that were too mediocre to use. I finally found one or two that would suit the design excellently. Paired with the classic art deco pattern and modern calligraphy, the printed suite came out so much prettier than what I saw on my laptop screen. The colours came out soft and pleasing to the eye — exactly how I wanted it to be.

A Wedding in Texas: Calligraphy for Yasmin & Andrew

Andrew-Yasmin-Wedding-Invitations-via-Happy-Hands-Project

Late last year, Yasmin of Coffee Creative got in touch with me through my Etsy shop to write their wedding invitations in calligraphy. It was for their wedding in Texas, USA, and I was thrilled! It turned out to be a lovely suite, because calligraphy matched the awesome drawing Yasmin did of her and her groom! I would be totally inspired by this idea, now I wish I’m getting married again. It has a lovely, organic feel and I am super happy to have provided calligraphy for this wedding. Photos were taken by Kristen Swanson.

I really enjoy designing for weddings, especially invitation suites. Do you know what I love most about this invite? Apart from the sweet bride being awesome to work with, they actually gave me creative freedom. I got to play around with their wedding colours to my heart’s content! I’m very happy to share with you the wedding of Ian and Kres.

We started the design process with the wedding logo, and it turned out to be fairly swirly yet uncomplicated. I used emerald green and sunflower yellow to paint the floral motif that was ultimately used in their Save the Date cards and invitation suite. The best feeling has always been seeing all the elements fall perfectly in place.

Calligraphy For A Rustic Wedding Styled Shoot

Have you guys been to the Wedding Scoop blog lately? I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to share my full calligraphy wedding stationery at the recent styled shoot by Bloc Memoire, with a magnificent ‘grazing table’ styled by Heaven in a Wildflower. It combined the talents of wonderful wedding vendors here in Singapore, and the result was rustic, dreamy, whimsical.

For the stationery, I used metallic card stock in gold and cream, and wrote with a flex pen and grey gouache. You will see the rest of the photos and complete list of participating vendors here. I love how all the details came together. This is why I love weddings.

An Autumn Wedding {Robby and Maan}

Autumn Themed Wedding

Autumn Wedding Invitation Suite

Happy Day of Hearts, everyone! I’m starting off Valentine’s Day with a wedding that was lots of fun and full of romance. And earthy, orange hues.

When Maan, the bride and now officially my Sister-in-Law, told me that their wedding theme was Autumn, I started thinking about red and brown maple leaves and pumpkin spice. Some wooden centerpieces with orange flowers. What a lovely theme to work on! I have to say Maan was a very hands-on bride who has a good taste in design. She favored a hand-lettered script over fonts, so I came up with a flourish-y lettering for their monogram. Once it was settled, the design for the invitation suite soon came after. I designed the main invite and entourage cards, a reception card and the map.

My favorite part in designing the whole suite was the reception card. The orange cocktail dress, specifically.

The wedding was in November last year, and I have to say it was a terribly busy month for my little family. We flew to Manila, Philippines a couple of days before the big day. I was just so thankful that our little ‘un enjoyed walking along the Changi Airport travellator so much that she was asleep during most of the 3.5 hour-flight. Lucky, indeed!

And oh, it was a beautiful wedding. All the elements from the bridal bouquet, the gentlemen’s boutonnières, to the table centerpieces, just came together so elegantly. The orange ombré style cake was also a delicious eye candy (tasted heavenly, too!). It was certainly autumn at the Blue Leaf that night. Congratulations to the lovely couple! Thank you for making me a part of your wedding.

Bee-Themed Birthday Party Invitations

Bumblebee Birthday Party Invitations via Happy Hands Project

What a year it has been! Our daughter has turned one! We celebrated this milestone at Shakey’s Pizza – and Lori enjoyed every minute of it!

My husband and I decided on a bee-themed party, as it was the most suitable for our girl. She’s very active, always a busy bee, always fluttering about. So once we had the theme down, I started on the invites.

We deviated from the predictable yellow and black and settled on yellow orange, lime and magenta… and everything fell into place. I had a lot of fun planning all the DIYs for the party. It wasn’t easy, but still a lot of fun! I made bee antenna headbands to serve as party hats, name tags and goodie bags with Thank You labels, plus an A3 sized framed poster. Since there was no available baker’s twine in the party’s colors, I made a few yards myself. I liked the way it turned out because it matched everything else!

The highlight of the party of course, goes to the hysterical magic show and pretty balloons by Leny’s Party Needs. A bee party will not be complete without a beehive cake! Gervy of Gervy’s Amazing Cakes designed a super yummy lemon butter cake and chocolate cake bars. The staff at Shakey’s Katipunan were very pleasant to work with. But the best part? Lori had the time of her life! Thank you so much to our family and friends who were there to celebrate with us.
