Perfect Pretties {02}: Black and White

June 20, 2013

Wow. Things have been pretty hazy from where I am. Let me tell you about what’s been going on lately here on the tiny island of Singapore. Thick smoke blowing from forest fires in the Indonesian island of Sumatra is being blown by winds to Singapore and Malaysia, and the air is just bad. Really bad. Everyone’s walking around in surgical masks, and as of last night, I could no longer find a single box in the 3 drugstores I went to. Sadly, there will be no outdoor activities in the next few weeks or so for us. I know, I know, I’m too lazy to jog nowadays – but my daughter misses the playground and doesn’t understand why she had to stay indoors!

So anyway, while we’re all staying inside the house, why not check out these lovely things I’ve seen around the web? This week we’re going back to basics with this collection of black and white pretties. Yes, I do love a burst of color every so often, but one can never go wrong with black and white. Over at my Etsy shop, the most popular items are always those set on a chalkboard background. Here you go! I hope you’ll like these as much as I do!

✨ Kakimori Inks, first impressions! I finally got ✨ Kakimori Inks, first impressions!

I finally got to try the two inks I picked up from @kakimori_japan in Tokyo—Tototo, a rich deep magenta, and Harvest Gold, a warm golden mustard.

Both are beautifully saturated and flowed effortlessly with my glass pen from @auneda. Which one would you add to your collection? 💛💜

It’s Friday! ✨    Practice has been non-existent l It’s Friday! ✨

Practice has been non-existent lately, hence my uncial’s a little shaky. So I’m pairing this with some Michael Jackson to make up for it.

Friday night means we get to order kebabs for dinner and afterwards I can sit and watch Netflix while eating a slice of sticky chocolate cake (which I learned is a Swedish recipe, and I made it myself).

Yay weekend!

I bought the Kakimori Frost pen in moss specifically for my sweet-scented milky matcha ink. They’re a perfect pair! No performative aesthetics here, just pure writing satisfaction.

Stationery lovers, add this to your Tokyo bucket list 🇯🇵👇

Hidden just a few minutes from Nakameguro Station is the Traveler’s Factory. You’ll find this nondescript gray building tucked away in a quiet alley. There was a short line of patrons outside when I got there, but it moves fast and is so worth the wait!

Think walls lined with leather Traveler’s Notebooks, limited-edition refills, vintage-style stamps, and brass accessories to customize your setup. Love the display of washi tapes, and some pens and inks as well.

Save this post for your next trip to Tokyo!
